Carolyn Fairall Obituary
Carolyn R. Fairall, a cherished educator, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Born on May 27, 1937, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Daniel and Dorothy (Straup) Whitmer, Carolyn's life was marked by her dedication to family, her passion for teaching, and her unwavering faith.
Carolyn's formative years in South Bend laid the foundation for a life of learning and service. She carried her hometown values with her as she pursued higher education at Bloomington Indiana University, where she graduated in the Class of 1959. It was there that she honed the skills and knowledge that would become the bedrock of her long and rewarding career as an educator.
For many years, Carolyn served the community as a beloved teacher at Southern Lehigh Middle School. Her commitment to her students went beyond the classroom, as she tirelessly worked to inspire and guide them towards their fullest potential. Her passion for teaching was matched only by the love she had for her family.
Carolyn's heart was full when she met and married the love of her life, Robert F. Fairall. Together, they shared 37 years of marriage, filled with joy, laughter, and mutual respect, until Robert's passing on April 8, 2010. Their enduring partnership was a testament to their deep love and the family values they both held dear.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Hughes of Bethlehem, PA, and Cheryl Davis (Doug) of Mount Pleasant, SC. Carolyn's legacy continues through her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who will remember her for her warmth, wisdom, and the gentle way she encouraged each of them to pursue their dreams.
Carolyn's love for life was evident in her many interests. An avid golfer, she could often be found on the greens, enjoying the game and the company of friends. Bowling and playing bridge were among her favorite pastimes, and she cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy.
A faithful member of Weslyn Methodist Church, Carolyn's spirituality was a guiding light throughout her life. Her involvement with the church community reflected her beliefs and her desire to serve others.
Carolyn's presence was a blessing to all who knew her. Her kindness, grace, and dedication to her family and profession left an indelible mark on the world. As we bid farewell to Carolyn R. Fairall, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey complete, and a spirit that will forever be remembered in the hearts of those she touched. While she may have departed from this earthly realm, her light continues to shine in the memories we hold and in the lives of those she loved.
