Craig Weidner Obituary

Craig S. Weidner, 75, passed away peacefully at his home in the Poconos on the evening of July 8, 2025. Born on January 13, 1950 in Staten Island, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph and Irene (Kinneer) Weidner. Craig was a retired New York City fire fighter with many years of service and fondly would recall his time in the field saving structures and lives. He was also a man of many talents, a wealth of knowledge and he served as a teacher to many. An avid life long car enthusiasts, Craig also was a founding member of the Lost in Time Car Club and the founding father of the Past, Present, and Future Cruisers car club (both in the Poconos) He was also a member of different vehicle clubs in his primary residence of North Port, FL. Craig enjoyed the collecting and studying of gems and minerals, fishing, astrology, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on. All these loves were fondly shared with those around him. Craig's sarcasm and truly humorous demeanor will be one of the most deeply missed parts of him but the memories he helped provide to so many will be cherished forever. Craig is survived by sisters Kim Gianfortune and husband Alan of Staten Island, NY, and Jorene Ivkovich of Arizona; a niece Danielle Gianfortune of Boonton NJ. But to be considered family to Craig, you didn't need to be blood. Craig surrounded himself with those who were the most special to him and who he called his family. Like a son to him, Shawn VanWhy Sr. and wife Carrie of East Stroudsburg and like a daughter, Magda Frailey and husband Andrew of East Stroudsburg. He also completely cherished the children he considered his grandkids, Shawn VanWhy Jr., Olivia, Eliza, and Leon Frailey, and Kate Cooley as well as one great grandchild Scarlet. There was also one very special thing in his life that meant the absolute world to him and that is his two year old faithful K9 companion Chevy, the golden doodle pup that gave him the most joy in his last few years. As per his wishes he will be cremated. A memorial service will be at the convenience of family. William H. Clark Funeral Home, Inc.
