David Brong Obituary
Born on March 5, 1942 in East Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Homer and Edith (Keltz) Brong. A lifelong Pennsylvanian, David was born and raised in Monroe County and was a 1960 graduate of Pocono High School in Tannersville. He later lived in Bucks County. After retiring from the IT field, he moved "back home" to Pocono Township in 2012.
A devoted member of Cherry Lane United Methodist Church, David enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He especially loved dining at local diners. After returning to the area, he looked forward to weekly breakfasts with the boys at Cook's Corner and Fork Street Bistro. He also found joy in volunteering at Pocono Plateau Camp, where he mowed grass and earned a reputation as a dedicated wood-splitter. Additionally, he worked part-time driving for Clark Funeral Home alongside his good friend Allen Raish.
He is survived by his four children: Charlene Phillips and husband Jim of Raleigh, NC; Douglas Brong of Buffalo, NY; Kevin Brong and wife Penny of Fort Mill, SC; and Scott Brong and wife Lexie of Bucks County. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren: Matthew, Kelly, Sam, Jimmy, Cassie, Karli, Madison, Hanna, and Chloe with one more expected soon (Scott & Lexie in September of 2025). David is also survived by three sisters: Susan Xander (widow of Rev. Paul) of Wind Gap; Kathy Hinton of Ephrata; and Dottie Telesky and husband Ed of Cresco, along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating David's life will be held on Thursday, May 29, at 1:00 PM at Cherry Lane United Methodist Church in Tannersville with Rev. Wendy Bellis officiating. Please join the family for coffee and light refreshments immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Monroe County Hospice House, 412 East Brown Street, East Stroudsburg, PA, 18301.
