Donald Bartholomew Obituary

Donald R. Bartholomew, 90, of Palmerton, PA, died on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at his home in Palmerton. Born in Towamensing Twp., he was a son of the late Alfred Bartholomew and the late Edith (Snyder) Bartholomew-Doney. Donald enjoyed working on old cars, trucks, tractors, and equipment. He loved his dogs. Donald was employed by the Local #600 Carpenters Union. He also worked at several orchards, Trexler, Smutches, and Big Creek Orchards, as well as R&R Toy, and Bethlehem Steel. He was a member of the Grundsau Lodsch on Fireline Road. Survivors: Sisters, Shirley M. Hawk of Lehighton, and Barbara A. Mackes of Aquashicola. He was predeceased by brothers, Alfred J. Bartholomew, Jr., Carl Bartholomew, Marvin Bartholomew, and Harold Bartholomew, and sisters, Anna V. Gower, Florence E. Bonseer, and Sylvia Rex, and his companion of 30 years, Jean I. Kunkle in 2010. Services: Graveside Services, 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery, 500 Church Drive (Trachsville), Palmerton, PA 18071, with the Rev. Timothy A. Hasenecz officiating. Online Condolences may be left for the family at: www.schislerfuneralhomes.com. Contributions: May be made in his memory to the Carbon County Animal Shelter, 63 Broad Street, Nesquehoning, PA 18240.
