Doreen Macchia-Germain Obituary

Doreen Macchia-Germain, 68, a beloved mother, nanny, and friend passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025. Doreen spent the last month's of her life surrounded by her family and friends. Doreen's warm presence and caring nature left an undeniable mark on all who knew her. Doreen was born on October 16, 1956 in Jersey City, New Jersey, to Adelaide and Andrew Macchia. Doreen graduated from Clara Maas School of Nursing and was a nurse for her entire career. A majority of her career was spent in Home Care and Hospice and for many years she was the Director of Quality and Accreditation for her agency. Doreen was a member of the Home Care and Hospice association of New Jersey. Doreen was devoted to volunteerism and was very active in her church's, St Phillip the Apostle Church and Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church, over the year. She was a member of the Stewartsville Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary and was a Deacon and Elder at Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church. Doreen was a shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege to know her. Doreen's pride and joy was her family, and she had an extremely special bond with her daughter and granddaughters. The memories that they have with her are ingrained in their hearts and will be forever cherished. Doreen's journey on this earth was one marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of family, friends, and many more who were touched by her. Doreen is survived by her mother Adelaide Castrovillari, her brother Andrew Macchia (Patricia Macchia), her daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Jason Kolterjahn, her grandchildren Julia and Emily Kolterjahn, her Aunt Arlene, and countless cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Andrew Macchia, her stepdad who was like a father to her Albert Castrovillari, her grandmother Minnie Black, and multiple aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday July 17, 2025 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Parkway Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. A funeral service will be held on Friday July 18, 2025 at 11:00am with visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am at Old Greenwich Presbyterian Church; 17 Greenwich Church Road Stewartsville, NJ 08886.
