Edith Caretta Obituary

Edith Caretta, 90, of East Stroudsburg, passed away Friday morning October 10, 2025 while under hospice care at Spring Village at Pocono where she was a resident. She was the widow of Ernest J. Caretta with whom she shared 38 years of marriage at the time of his death on May 20, 1996. Born on December 23, 1934 in Bangor, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Lane and was a lifetime resident of Monroe County. Edith worked at Albino's, Lisa B's, McDonalds in the Stroud Mall and for Monroe County Meals on Wheels. She is survived by a son, Randy Caretta and wife Dianne of Kunkletown; two grandchildren, Kyle Caretta of East Hanover, NJ and Taylor Caretta of Effort; a great granddaughter, Dakota Caretta; a brother, John Lane and wife Connie of Catasauqua; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Caretta and a sister, Verna Overpeck. Services will be held on Thursday, October 16th, at the William H. Clark Funeral Home, 1003 Main Street, Stroudsburg with visitation beginning at 10:00am followed by the funeral service at 11:00am with Rev. Brian Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Prospect Cemetery. Being that Edith was a long-time supporter of local animal rescue organizations, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorial remembrances be made to AWSOM (Animal Welfare Society of Monroe), P.O. Box 13, Stroudsburg, PA 18360.
