Elizabeth A. Castro, a cherished figure known for her unwavering kindness and nurturing spirit, passed away surrounded by her loving family on July 13, 2025, at Holy Family Senior Living in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Born on April 11, 1937, in Bethlehem, she spent her entire life in the town she loved, touching the lives of everyone she met with her warmth and generosity.
Elizabeth was the heart of her family. She was a devoted wife of 67 years to her husband, Joseph J. Castro, with whom she shared countless cherished moments. Together, they built a life full of love and laughter. Elizabeth was a loving mother to her daughter, June Lamana and husband John, daughter in law Jane Castro, son in law Michael Yesalusky. She was a doting grandmother to Salina Stanell, Lauren Moll, Mason Castro, Taylor Lamana, Michael Yesalusky, and a proud great-grandmother to Bella, Nolan, Joseph, Gunnar, and Harper. Her family was her pride and joy, and she cultivated a home filled with warmth and welcome.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, Leon and Helen (Zimmerman) Kramm, her children: Joseph J. Castro, Jr., Jill (nee Castro) Yesalusky, her siblings, Josephine, Georgina, Jack, Leon, and Catherine.
A graduate of Liberty High School, Elizabeth continued to serve her community through her work at Bethlehem Area School District. Her presence was a comforting one, and she made a lasting impact on the countless students and staff members she encountered over the years.
A devout Christian, Elizabeth was a dedicated member of St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bethlehem. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing strength during life's challenges. She lived her beliefs through her actions, always offering a helping hand or a kind word to those in need.
Elizabeth enjoyed traveling, sewing, crossword puzzles and gardening.
Services: A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, July 18, 2025 at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018, where family will receive relatives and friends from 10 A.M. until time of service. Inurnment will conclude services at Bethlehem Memorial Park, 1851 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18017. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
