Francis Byrne Obituary

Francis J. Byrne of Norristown, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 2, 2025 surrounded by his family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 64. Born on August 29, 1961 to Francis A. and Patricia (nee Reynolds) Byrne; Frank was the beloved father of Alexander Byrne (Colleen) and Cameron Byrne (Kira), grandfather of Raelynn Byrne, and brother of Michael (Alyn), Eileen Quill (Fergus), James, Steven (Lisa), and Monica DiCostanza (Ralph). Frank is survived by his former spouse and mother of his children, Christine Grimes (Byrne), his mother, Patricia Byrne, his children, granddaughter, siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and lifelong friends who mourn his passing. Born in Staten Island, New York, Frank was proud of his heritage as a New Yorker, and of his close connections with Irish history as a direct descendant of Jeremiah O'Donovan Rossa. He was a proud graduate of Villanova University and had a distinguished career in Legislative and Regulatory Affairs. Early in his career he worked on polling place accessibility legislation for the state of Pennsylvania, which ensured access to the voting booth for elderly and physically disabled citizens. On the federal level he worked to pass the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) which permanently ensured those and other protections. Throughout his professional life, Frank's work involved advocacy for the rights of the disabled and elderly. Frank will be remembered for his quick wit, his great love for his family, the incredible meals and epic holidays he created for loved ones, and his joyful enthusiasm for life. Relatives and friends are invited to Francis' Life Celebration on Saturday October 18, 2025. Visitation from 10 AM to 11:45 AM. Service of Remembrance at 12 PM, at the Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, PA 19401; interment will be held privately. Family and friends are warmly invited to the luncheon immediately following the service. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Francis, please visit our floral store.

Yesterday

Needless to say, I was taken aback by Frank´s passing. It certainly reinforced the belief that life is short and should never be taken for granted. As I reflect, I feel truly honored to have known Frank and the Byrnes family for many years, and I have a deep appreciation for the inspiration, encouragement, and influence Frank had on so many of us.

As I was reading Frank´s obituary, the word "Epic" was used to describe incredible meals and holidays. For me, however, "Epic" perfectly captures Frank himself. Whether it was making midnight pancakes for a hungry group (only a few will know what this means), his faith-based journey to Villanova, his lifelong career dedicated to helping others, or the meaningful relationships he built with family and friends. Frank lived life fully and intentionally. He took the time to listen, engage, and support everyone around him.

Frank, you will be missed, but your memory lives on. I know you are in a better place.
