Francis Schlenner Obituary

Francis W. Schlenner, affectionately known as Franny to his friends and loved ones, passed away on July 29, 2025, at the age of 51, in St. Lukes Hospital Carbon Campus, Lehighton, PA. Born on June 13, 1974, to Nancy (Gaughan) Schlenner and Francis "Phrone" Schlenner, Franny was a lifelong resident of Jim Thorpe, PA, where he cultivated a life filled with laughter, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community. A proud graduate of Jim Thorpe High School, Class of 1993 Franny was well-known for his quick wit and his ability to make anyone smile. After high school, he channeled his passion for craftsmanship into a fulfilling career with the Eastern Atlantic Carpenters JAC, where he was currently serving as an esteemed Assistant Coordinator. His dedication to his work was evident in the countless projects he contributed to and the respect he earned from his colleagues. Franny's life was a testament to his character-funny, generous, and thoughtful. He had an infectious sense of humor that could light up any room, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was always the first to lend a helping hand, whether it was a friend in need or a community cause that required his attention. His thoughtfulness extended to his family, who were the cornerstone of his life. He is survived by his loving wife, Machelle (Young) Schlenner, with whom he shared many cherished moments and built a beautiful family since their marriage on September 27, 1997. His legacy lives on through his daughter, Megan Schlenner, and his son, Max Schlenner, both of Jim Thorpe, who will carry forward the values and lessons he instilled in them. Franny's parents, Nancy and Phrone, remember him as a devoted son who brought immeasurable joy to their lives. Beyond his work and family, Franny was an avid cook, often found experimenting with new recipes and flavors in the kitchen or the Shed. His dishes were the highlight of family gatherings and community events, where he loved to share his latest culinary creations. Additionally, he was a passionate fan of NASCAR racing, a hobby that provided him with excitement and a sense of camaraderie with fellow fans. He was also involved with Sprint car racing attending many races at Grandview Speedway and Big Diamond Speedway. Franny's absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. His ability to find humor in the everyday, his selfless nature, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved will be remembered and cherished forever. As we say goodbye to Francis W. Schlenner, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life full of joy, generosity, and love. His memory will be held in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him. Franny's journey on this earth may have concluded, but the stories of his kindness, laughter, and warmth will be shared for generations to come. Services will be held Friday August 1, 2025 at 12pm in the David J. Stianche Funeral Home, 123 Center St. Jim Thorpe, PA 18229. Calling hours will be held Friday morning in the funeral home 9am until the time of the service in the funeral home. I am so proud to have known Fran. He helped so much with a variety of community service projects in the Lehigh Valley. Fran always took my calls and it was always such a pleasure speaking with him. He loved his work, despite the crazy commute and he loved his family and friends. I miss him already. This world needs a lot more people like Fran Schlenner.

To Shell, Megan & Max, Tootie & Phrone. I know how much we will miss Franny, I just can't imagine how much you will. Franny is truly one of the nicest people put on this earth. We all will come to an end eventually, but Franny honestly deserved much more time than he got with us all.

To Whomever Is Reading This,

I know Fran through the carpenters and have had the pleasure of being around him in several capacities. He taught me about ICRA in Allentown, has sat beside me in several leadership trainings at the ITC in Las Vegas, brought insight and laughter to our annual SME conference, to name a few experiences.

I will never forget his Wawa story about the meal of the day, and that remains (literally and not hyperbole) one of my top 5 favorite stories that I have ever heard in my life.

He was always there with a smile on his face and a willingness to go above and beyond. I am so saddened to hear of his passing- please know that he has touched lives farther than you probably know. I am thankful to have known him, and I promise to carry a piece of his attitude and approach to life with me as I move forward on this journey.
