Frank Amato Obituary

Frank A. Amato, Sr., 63, passed away surrounded by loved ones in the early hours of January 16, 2026 at St. Luke's Bethlehem.

He was preceded in death by his parents Anthony Amato and Grace Fitzgerald (née Imbrosiano); stepfather Daniel Fitzgerald; and brothers Anthony and Paul Amato.

Born on April 7, 1962, in Allentown, PA, Frank was a family man. He had his sons young and went on to raise six well-rounded children. He could always be counted on to attend family gatherings, sports events, choir concerts, musicals, and dance recitals. He was also hard working and always willing to lend a hand, even if he wasn't 100% sure what he was doing all the time. He spent six years working for Caloric Corporation manufacturing microwaves and stoves, prior to leaving for Osram Sylvania (later renamed Ledvance) where he then spent over 30 years as a trusted employee, even continuing to work part time when he was diagnosed with cancer.

There are many things Frank was passionate about including sports, music, comedy movies, and the weather. He started following the weather decades ago, using a battery-powered Realistic weather radio, and in more recent times had upgraded to watching the Weather Channel on TV. In our home that has been dubbed "Frank's favorite channel" as it was always on. Nothing got him more excited than Jim Cantore announcing a big snow storm. He always looked forward to going out for hours with his snowblower, chatting with the neighbors, and freezing his buns off. He actually loved the cold and it was suggested we ship him to Alaska on multiple occasions.

When the weather was warmer you could always find him at the golf course, a cold Miller Lite in hand, trying his very best to stay under par. And before golf there was softball, a passion that he also passed onto several of his children. He was always willing to join into family games of flag football, volleyball, horseshoes, etc., as well as the annual Easter Raw Egg Toss. As much as he enjoyed playing sports, he enjoyed watching them even more. If there was Phillies or Eagles game on, you bet he was watching it, cheering on his favorite team. Recently he also took to wearing the lucky Eagles game bracelet made with love by his granddaughter.

Though he did enjoy getting out of the house for family gatherings and his aforementioned hobbies, Frank also loved to be at home where he could spend time with his beloved dogs. Of course every time a family dog would pass he would always say "we aren't getting another dog", but then we would and he and the dog would become instant best friends.

Frank's legacy will live on through his wife, Patrice "Patti" Amato (née Stocker) of Allentown, PA; sons Frank Amato Jr. and wife Amanda of Walnutport, PA, and Paul Amato and wife Elizabeth "Liz" of Catasaqua, PA; stepchildren Rebecka "Beci" Weinsteiger of Corvallis, OR, Kelli Kanusky and husband Josh of Mohnton, PA, Ricky Weinsteiger of York, PA, and Holli Bossons of Allentown, PA; Grandchildren Franceska "Frannie" Amato, Hollis Weinsteiger-Brown, Josephine Kanusky, and Fiona Kanusky; and siblings Nathan Amato Sr and wife Tammy of Macungie, PA, and sister Laurie Jean Mercado of Telford, PA.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Bachman, Kulik, & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 225 Elm Street, Emmaus. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM-10:30 AM with a short service to follow at 10:30 AM, www.BKRFH.com

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lehigh County Humane Society.
