Gary N. Gieringer

Gary N. Gieringer, 84, of Oley Township, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 2, 2025. Born October 19, 1940, in Reading, he was the son of the late Neal Gieringer and Thelma (Stackhouse). A 1957 graduate of Oley High School, Gary went on to serve honorably in the U.S. Air Force, including overseas deployment. Following his military service, he began his banking career as a teller with the former Bank of Pennsylvania. Through determination and an exceptional work ethic, Gary rose to become Chairman and CEO of Patriot Bank, earning wide respect throughout the financial community. Known for his generosity, charisma, and warm presence, Gary had a gift for connecting with people. Whether dining at Schmeck's Villa or singing his favorite Frank Sinatra tunes at the Seafood Shanty, Gary brought joy and laughter to those around him. He was a beloved member of the local community and treasured time spent with family and friends. He is survived by two sons: Stephen Gieringer, former husband of Susan Blanchard of Oley and Robert Gieringer, husband of Nicole (Kunkel) Gieringer of Florida; six grandchildren: Ethan, Wesley, Zachary, Chelsea, Gabrielle, and Jacob Gieringer; and one great-grandchild, Theo Gieringer. He is also survived by his second wife, Julie Keller of Oley, stepson Chris Hauger and step-grandson, Logan. Gary was predeceased by his daughter, Stephanie Gieringer; his siblings, Ruthann Hartman, and Robert Gieringer; and his first wife, Suzanne (Bodor) Gieringer. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Schmeck's Villa, Exeter Township.
