Gene R. VanDoren

Gene R. VanDoren, 72, of Forks Township, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2025, in St. Luke's Hospital-Anderson Campus. Born January 10, 1953, in Easton, PA, he was the son of the late Russell L. and Irene M. (Smith) VanDoren. His wife of 37 years, Colleen G. (Merli) VanDoren, passed away September 28, 2014. Gene attended Phillipsburg High School. He had been employed by Curtis Paper Mill, formerly Riegel Paper, Milford, NJ. He was last employed as a bartender and cook at Citizens Hose Company, Easton, PA. Gene's pride and joy were his grandchildren. He looked forward to annual family trips to Wildwood. Gene enjoyed spending time at the racetrack watching his oldest grandson, Tanner, race. He had a passion for cars and motorcycles his whole life. He was a life member of Citizens Hose Company and a member of Avona Volunteer Fire Company, Wilson Democratic Club and Concordia Maennerchor. Surviving is a son, Jason VanDoren and his wife Lori, of Schnecksville; a daughter, Brianne R. Miller and her husband Dan, of Bushkill Township; five grandchildren, Tanner and Chase VanDoren, Adalae, Novella and Hunter Miller; a sister, Kim Siedt and her husband Kevin, Lower Nazareth Township; nephews and nieces; his mother-in-law, Lorraine Merli, of Forks Township; and his companion, Cindy Savercool. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert R. VanDoren. Services will be held at 10am Monday, June 23rd, in the Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., 2101 Northampton Street, Wilson Borough.
