George Willard Derstine

George Willard Derstine, age 84, of Telford. passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Nancy Lou (Styer) Derstine, with whom he shared over 63 years of marriage. Born September 29, 1940, in Perkasie, he was a son of the late Willis T. and Mildred (Shelly) Derstine. George was a brick mason and was employed by Vernon Swartley Masonry from 1962- 1972, Mussleman Masonry from 1973 – 1982 and at Lower Salford Township Authority from 1983 until his retirement in 2006. George built his own house at the age of 27. He enjoyed working outdoors, especially mowing. After his retirement he worked for Franconia Township mowing the park system. George loved baseball and he played on several church softball teams until he hung up his spikes at age 60. In 2001 he was awarded the Outstanding Employee award from the Eastern Pennsylvania Water and Pollution Operators. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Gary Derstine and his wife, Tara, of Quakertown; granddaughter Courtney Derstine and her,fiancé, Jacob Sonder; siblings Merril Derstine and his wife, Elaine, of Telford, Wayne Derstine and his wife, Charlotte, of Perkasie, Betty Strouse and her husband, Earl, of Sellersville, Mary Appold and her husband, Walter, of Pennsburg, and Alma Wissman and her husband, Al, of Mesa, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his siblings Doris Histand, Wilmer, Abe and Stanley Derstine, and Lorraine Vanpelt. Visitation for George will take place on Thursday, January 16, 2024, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Williams-Bergey-Koffel Funeral Home Inc., 667 Harleysville Pike, Telford.
