Gerard Farra Obituary

Gerard John Farra (Jerry) passed away peacefully at home on September 1, 2025, holding the hand of the love of his life and beloved wife, Claire P. Farra. Born in the Bronx on September 4, 1933. He was the son of Thomas and Veronica (Sweeney) Farra. A twin brother to Tom and older brother to Ron, Catherine and Lucille, their family moved to Mastic Beach in 1938. Jerry returned to the Bronx for high school, met lifelong friends, got engaged to his beloved Claire and married during the 6th of the 8th week of army basic training. They welcomed their first daughter when he was stationed in Fort Hood. After his 2 years of service he returned to NY to build a loving family of 5 girls and 1 boy having homes in Coram NY, Lindenhurst NY, Massapequa NY and eventually moving to Hatboro, PA. Jerry and Claire just celebrated their 71st anniversary on August 28, 2025! He was a loving father to 6 children, grandfather to 18, and great-grandfather to 21 with 2 more on the way! He was a hard and dedicated worker sometimes working 2-3 jobs to support his family while simultaneously getting his college degree! He often spoke with pride about one of his part-time jobs driving a limo in NY where he got to meet famous people like Tony Bennett and Judy Garland. He worked in various positions throughout his career including Electrician, Metallurgical Engineer and Sales eventually retiring from J.W. Rex Heat Treating after 20 years of service. Jerry was best known for his eternal optimism and playful nature with his common quote of "I am in pretty good shape for the shape I'm in." He loved the beach, boating, biking, and long walks in his other homes in Ocean City NJ, Madeira Beach FL, and Smithville, NJ. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan. He was absolutely adored as a husband, father, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed. Along with Gerard's spouse, he is survived by his children, Joyce Jonat of Somerville, NJ, Susan Kwiatkowski of Hatfield, PA, Linda Wilz of Hatfield, PA, Gerard "Jerry" Farra (Donna) of Lake Wynonah, PA, Gail Faustine (Philip) of Lansdale, PA, Lisa Sabelhaus (Joseph) of Clarksburg, MD; and a sister, Catherine Barry of Long Island, NY.
