Obituary for H. Lee Thompson March 30, 1941 – February 3, 2025 It is with great sadness that the family of Henry Lee Thompson announces his passing on February 3, 2025, at the age of 83. Lee was born on March 30, 1941, in Pleasantville, NJ, to his loving parents, Harold Thompson and Elsie Wolfbrandt Thompson and went on to become a devoted husband, father, vovô, brother, uncle and friend. He was predeceased by his daughter, Bonnie Thompson. Lee is survived by his cherished wife, Barbara Jean Zurcher Thompson; his son, Philip Thompson, and wife Tammy, along with their children Riley and Sydney; his daughter, Pauline Thompson Meeker, and husband Mark, and their children Brianna her husband Lee Parish, Stephen, and Victoria; his daughter, Cynthia Thompson DeLorme, and husband Keith, and their children Andrew, Phillip, Matthew, Timothy, Sophie Grace, and Christian. Throughout his life, Lee was known for his deep faith, tireless work ethic, and profound love for others. For 26 years, he served as a missionary in Brazil, where he planted six churches, from the jungles of the Amazon to the bustling city of Belo Horizonte. Lee worked with the Gospel Missionary Union and Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, dedicating his life to spreading the message of Christ. In addition to his missionary work, Lee pastored several churches in the US, including Brookdale Baptist Church in Bloomfield, NJ, and Calvary Baptist in Flemington, NJ. He also served as Associate Pastor at Calvary Bible Church in East Stroudsburg, PA, where he founded the Calvary School of the Bible and developed the Growth in Christ Bible Study Program. He was passionate about discipleship and played a key role in leading the Seniors Fellowship Ministry. Lee's heart for God was evidenced by his immense care for people. His teaching and preaching reached countless lives, always with the goal of helping others know Christ and grow in their faith. He was a dynamic and powerful teacher, with a unique ability to connect with everyone individually. Outside of his ministry, Lee had many hobbies, including carpentry, beekeeping, gardening, fishing, hunting, and leather working among other hobbies. These interests not only reflected his creativity and practical skills but also his love for the simple joys of life. Lee's legacy is one of service, dedication, and a deep love for God and others. He was known for his godly character, his unwavering energy, and his unrelenting desire to help others grow in their faith. His impact will be felt for generations to come, as his work continues to bear fruit in the lives of those he mentored and served around the world. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on February 8, 2025 at 11am with a luncheon to follow at Calvary Bible Church, 9 Three Point Garden Road, East Stroudsburg, PA, where family and friends will gather to honor his memory. Barb, Herb and I are keeping you in our prayers. What a beautiful legacy Lee left. Lee always loved others and he lived a life of his faith and joy of serving Jesus, his Savior. Well done faithful servant! We await a great reunion! Love, Phyllis Jacobsen
