Ilene Chasen Obituary
Ilene N. (nee Melnicoff) December 22, 2024 of Jenkintown, Pa. Devoted wife of the late Barry; loving mother of Marci (Steven) Blum; cherished sister of Nan (Len) Golden; proud grandmother of Sami (Jordan Earnheardt) Blum and Mollie Blum. Services and interment will be held for invited guests only. The family will receive guests at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Steven Blum Friday afternoon, Saturday evening and Sunday beginning at 3:00pm. Contributions in her memory may be made to the Mitzvah Circle via their website www.mitzvahcircle.org

My dear friend, Ilene. I have been calling you and leaving messages on both of your telephones for since mid-December hoping to hear your voice.
Then, in that silence, I feared the worst. Not knowing your daughter or sister´s telephone numbers, I finally found the courage to lookup your name in the obituaries on my computer.
Tears overflowed and my heart broke when I found you and your photo.
Sadly, you are the second member of our 4W (4 widows) group to die. You were the instrumental force for it to form in 2008 because you were such a social butterfly. It became a social spin off of our bereavement group in Abington. Memories of the many dinners we had in our homes and in various restaurants came back to me as I searched for photographs to attach to this tribute. You crossed over to my other groups of lady friends and even attended the Philadelphia Flower Show with us in 2017.
You kept in touch regularly with your short telephone calls. At the end of each one of them you would say, "And that´s all I have to say." Often, the two of us went out to lunch and then shopping at all of the thrift shops that you frequented. I will always remember our times together. You were such a dear friend. I will miss you very much. I love you.
My sincere condolences to your beloved daughter, Marci, and sister, Nan, and their husbands and families. I never met any of Ilene´s family but feel like I know you because she often spoke lovingly about you all and your good times together.

I had the privilege of working and knowing Ilene from Bloomingdale´s. We shared many good times outside of work.
