James E. Bender

James (Jim) E. Bender, 72, formerly of Mountainhome, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025, while under hospice care at Oak Leaf Manor North in Lancaster, PA where he was a resident since 2022. Born on Oct. 26, 1952 in East Stroudsburg, PA. he was son of the late Alden "Buck" M. and Alfreda S. (Gasiorowski) Bender and lived in Barrett Township for most of his life. Jim spent his career as a "Grounds & Maintenance Technician" at Buck Hill Falls. For 40+ years he helped care for the golf course, the historic inn, and the local community. When not mowing a fairway or plowing snow, Jim led a quiet, simple life. He enjoyed long, scenic drives around the Poconos, cold beer, and lending a hand to anyone who needed one. He was a hunter, a golfer, and a Steelers fan. He will be remembered as a devoted son, a loyal brother & brother-in-law, a wonderful Uncle, and an all-around nice guy. Surviving are a niece, Jennifer B. Delp of Brooksville, FL and two nephews, Alex M. Bender & wife, Elizabeth of Lancaster and David M. Bender & wife, Nicolle of Manheim. He is also survived by his grandnephews, R.J. Delp and Christian Delp and grandniece, Annie Bender. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Michael R. and Esther L. Bender in 2016 and 2021, respectively. Jim was a member of Most Holy Trinity Parish in Cresco. Services will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 at Most Holy Trinity Parish, 236 PA-390, Cresco. Visitation will begin at 10:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am with Rev. Brian J.W. Clarke as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the High Acres Parks Committee for the upkeep and improvement of High Acres Park, including the Memorial Garden. 1200 Route 390, Cresco, PA 18326 Local arrangements were entrusted to the William H.
