James Casey Obituary

James V. Casey, 79, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2025, in his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late James and Catherine (McAdarra) Casey. James was the devoted husband of Georgia C. (Rilk) Casey, with whom he celebrated 59 years of marriage in June. James honorably served his country in the United States Army. After his service, he was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Corporation for 33 years. He was a member of the Cathedral Church of Saint Catharine of Siena. Throughout his life, James enjoyed bowling, playing baseball, and coaching youth baseball and basketball. He served as a coach at Union Terrace Athletic Club for 17 years. He was an avid Phillies fan. James cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He loved attending their dance recitals, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, volleyball, baseball, and field hockey games. In addition to Georgia, James is survived by his daughter, Colleen Cari (John) his son, Timothy Casey (Kimberly); his brothers, Thomas Casey (Linda), John Casey (Michelle), and William Casey (Marylou); his grandchildren, Molly, Nicholas, Emma, and Katharine Cari, Devon Foley, and Aidan and Ethan Casey; twenty-one nieces and nephews; twenty-four great- nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant son, James; his sisters, Kathleen, Margaret (Peggy Ann), and Mary Ellen; and his nephew, Sean Casey. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s Place • Memphis, TN 38105.
