Jill Starr Obituary

Jill Louise Starr, 76, of Oley Township, passed away January 27, 2025 at Reading Hospital Tower Health. She was the loving wife of Edward Sweisford whom she married on February 15, 1992. Born May 23, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Carlton Jacobs Reinert and Gwendolyn Joyce (Keyser) Reinert. Jill was a 1966 graduate of Boyertown High School and later graduated from Kutztown University in 1992 where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree. After Kutztown she earned her Masters Degree in Labor Relations from the University of Illinois, graduating in 1995. Jill was the co-owner of L.W. Ott Funeral Home, of Boyertown with her first husband from 1979-1992. After selling the funeral home she worked in human resources for a number of companies such as Bell Sports for five years, Practiv for three years, and 76 Petroleum for three years as the National HR Director. She was an active member in the Reading Liederkranz and spent 30 years as an adult leader in the Girl Scouts. Jill coached Girls Softball for several years and was a member of the Welcome Wagon Club, Boyertown where she helped people new to the area connect with local businesses. She was also on the board of directors for the Boyertown YMCA. In her spare time, Jill loved spending time with her dogs and taking care of her plants that were both indoor and outdoor. She loved to test out new recipes and was a tremendous gourmet chef. When she wasn't tending to her plants or experimenting with new recipes she took advantage of every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren who brought her true happiness. Jill loved to host events for family friends and was the consummate decorator, host and entertainer. Jill had a talent for envisioning how she wanted things to be and was a force in and of herself, conquering any obstacle in her path. Surviving are two children, Vaughn Starr, husband of Lisa (Trimmer) Starr of Temple, PA, and Vanessa Starr, wife of Brad Seltzer of Phoenixville, PA. Jill is survived by a niece who was like a second daughter to her, Miranda (Conrad) Marks, wife of Gene Marks. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Ken Starr, husband of Karen Moyer; Jeremy Reed, husband of Erica (Boyer) Reed; Kasey Starr; Victoria Wagner; Jack Wanshop; and Ben Starr. Additionally, there are five great grandchildren that are surviving: Noah Starr; Adley Reed; Theo Reed; Regan Reed; and Jarren Starr. She was predeceased in death by a brother and sister, Dr. Joseph Carlton Reinert, and Janet Eileen (Reinert) Heydt. A visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 12:30-2 p.m. at the Reading Liederkranz. Followed by a luncheon and gathering/storytelling service of Jill's life.
