Joan Kingslake Obituary
Joan Elizabeth Kingslake, 90, of Bethlehem, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pottsville on November 7, 1934, was the daughter of the late William A. and Caroline (Tilburg) Shepardson.
A proud and determined woman, Joan was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning her Bachelor's Degree from Ursinus College in Collegeville. She went on to enjoy a long and fulfilling career in the Human Resources Department at Glaxo-Smith Kline in Philadelphia.
Joan made her home in Eagleville for many years, where she became an active and vibrant member of her community. She participated in local theatre productions, belonged to several book clubs, and was an avid reader-particularly fond of the works of Anne Perry. Together with her beloved sister Ruth, she volunteered for many years at the Boutique at the Rink charity, giving generously of her time and spirit.
She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: browsing and selling at yard sales, cheering passionately for her Philadelphia Eagles, and indulging in her love of British television. Joan was also a devoted member of Star of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where her kindness and wit left a lasting impression on many.
Survivors: Joan is survived by her granddaughter, Lisa Meneely Frederich of Tampa, FL; great-grandson Derric Meneely; two great-great-grandchildren; nephew David Repnyek and his partner Carol Blaine of Bethlehem Township; her dear friend and caregiver, Angela Clarke; caring neighbors; and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, David; her daughter, Ann; and three sisters and three brothers. Joan had a heart that welcomed everyone, and in return was loved by all. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and warmth and will be dearly missed by everyone whose lives she touched.
Services: A private graveside service will be held at Bethlehem Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem. A memory tribute may be placed at www.cantelmifuneralhome.com.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan's name to an animal rescue of your choice, in honor of her lifelong love for dogs-whose visits never failed to bring her joy.
