John "Jay" Daveler

John P. "Jay" Daveler, 86, Lansdale native, passed away Friday, April 18, 2025. He was the loving husband of Jane (Maxwell) Daveler. Born February 1, 1939, he was the son of the late John and Catherine (Schenk) Daveler. Early on, Jay followed in his father's footsteps as a firefighter. Jay was the Lansdale Fairmount Fire Company Chief for over four decades while also serving the community as its Fire Marshal. He was the founder and owner of Davro Instruments and led its evolution into optical equipment, which contributed to the U.S. space shuttle missions and its defense programs. Jay also started Nostalgic Collectibles in Lansdale where he had the unique gift to turn back the clock on antiques to make them must haves for all in today's world. He loved deep sea fishing, flying biplanes, and racing cars. No challenge was too big as Jay relished taking on and achieving his "bucket list" on his own terms. Along his diverse life's journey, he touched so many peoples' lives as a mentor, educator, and an influential leader to help shape the Lansdale community. In recognition thereof, Jay is the inaugural recipient of the Lansdale Lifetime Achievement Award. Jay's legacy will live on, but it is now time for his eternal post to heaven's gate door to read "Gone Fishin'." Along with his wife, Jay is survived by his sons, John Daveler II of Norristown, Christopher Daveler of Sarasota, FL, and Timothy Daveler of San Diego, CA; and two grandchildren, Alix and Soleil Daveler. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Moyer. Relatives and friends may call between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A second visitation will be held between 9:00 and 10:15 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2025 at the funeral home followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Kellers Church Cemetery, Perkasie.
