John Rissmiller Obituary

John LeRoy Rissmiller, Jr., 71, of Maidencreek Township, passed away on May 11, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Allentown. He was the husband of Christine A. (Katrinak) Rissmiller, whom he married in 2005. Born September 24, 1953, he was a son of the late John L. Rissmiller, Sr. and Carlen (Kline) Rissmiller. John was a 1971 graduate of Oley Valley High School. John spent his working career in various factories throughout the area, including East Penn Manufacturing, where he worked over 20 years; Garden State Tannery; Rolling Rock Building Stone; Hershey Foods; Sharp Pharmaceuticals; DeMets Candy Company; Sun Opta; and Redner's Markets, Leesport. The job he loved the most, however, was working alongside his wife at their business, Bag Lady's Bakery, which they did together for the past 10 years. John loved sports and spent over 20 years coaching youth baseball at the Oley Valley Youth League. He was an avid Raiders fan and enjoyed watching the LA Dodgers, LA Kings, and the Warriors. John had an appreciation for rock music. Among John's favorite places to visit were Ocean City, Maryland for weekend trips and various lighthouses along the east coast. John's favorite pastime was spending time with his family. Surviving, in addition to his wife, is his son, John R. Rissmiller, husband of Roseann Rissmiller of Fleetwood. John is survived by his three siblings: Raymond "Chip" Rissmiller of Fleetwood; Marie Jones, wife of James Jones of Hornell, New York; and Michael Rissmiller of Mertztown. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Rissmiller. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 19, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading. A visitation will be held from 12-1 p.m. in the church. Burial will be at Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692. Every week I would stop by the bakery to get my favorite cookies and John would be reading one of my favorite authors, James Patterson. When I was finished a book I wd pass it onto him. He felt like a kindred spirit, always with a smile. John, you will be missed. Chris, I´m always here if u need anything. Jackie Lombard from the market
