Joseph Balcom Obituary

Joseph Roland Balcom (Joe), age 57 of Eldred Township, Kunkletown, PA passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 11, 2025, at his home. Joe was the loving and devoted husband of Joanne M. (Kruger) Balcom, married for 27 years; but started their life journey together when Joe was 22 and Joanne was 18. Son of the late Joseph Kenneth Balcom and Carmen Alice (Godoy) Balcom, he was born in Bala Cynwyd, PA, on July 10, 1968. Joe was a Norristown Area High School 1986 graduate. He joined the United States Marine Corps 2nd Marine Division, and served as a tank crewman, during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Joe served our country with honor and distinction, earning the rank of Sergeant. Working remotely for the past 20 years, he was a dedicated Modality Planning Principal/Site Installation Engineer for Siemens Healthineers, headquartered in Malvern, PA. Joe was known for his dedication and exemplary work ethic. He was a man of honor, filled with integrity; his reach was far and wide. He had many interests and hobbies, especially woodworking and carpentry; there was nothing that he couldn't fix! Most of all, Joe cherished spending time with his family, whether it was playing video games with his two sons, backyard bonfires, or cooking out on the grill. Even if he did not catch one, he enjoyed deer hunting and just being in the great outdoors, especially with his sons. He also enjoyed those home renovation projects, late night movies, watching WWE and NFL football, or simply enjoying quiet moments, together. Joe was his family's bedrock and fierce protector. He had the biggest heart, and we have been truly Blessed and honored with his presence in our lives. Joe will be deeply and forever missed by his loving and loyal wife: Joanne M. (Kruger) Balcom, and his two loving and amazing sons: Joseph Roland Balcom Jr. and Jacob Roland Balcom. They were his "Best Friends" and center of his universe. Joe lives on through them. He was the eldest of five children, survived by four loving sisters and a wonderful brother-in-law: Sharon Marie (Balcom) Collazo/spouse Mark Anthony Collazo, Margaret Carmelita Balcom, Phyllis Diane Balcom, and Catherine Rose Balcom. He is also survived by his nephew Joseph Christian Balcom (wife Ani, their baby son Joseph Christian Balcom), nephews: Mark Anthony Collazo, Jr., Julian Collazo, Dominic Collazo, nieces Rose and Carlita, and nephew Michael. They will have him in their hearts, forever. Joe lived by the U.S. Marine Corps' honor code, every day of his life, influencing every decision he made: Honor, Courage, and Commitment. A Celebration of Life will be held sometime in October, and further details will be provided and announced at a later date. Interment is private, and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, a monetary or food donation may be made to your local food pantry, In Loving Memory of Joseph Roland Balcom. Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1426 Route 209, Gilbert, PA is entrusted with his arrangements. www.gowerfuneralhome.com To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Joseph, please visit our floral store.

I had only met Joe a couple of years ago but talked on the phone quite often about site issues. He was a great man and I'm going to miss our chats on the phone and working through projects with siemens. RIP brother.
