Julius Perschy Obituary

Julius V. Perschy, 92, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025 at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of the late Betty J. (Reichl) Perschy, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Julius and Gizella (Korpics) Perschy. He was a member of St. Thomas More R. C. Church, Allentown. Julius retired after working 30 years at Western Electric and AT&T. In his earlier years, he worked 9 years at Bethlehem Steel as a crane operator before being drafted into the Army. He served during the Korean War, where he received the rank of CPL. For his service, he also received the Ambassador for Peace Medal. He will be remembered for his patriotism and support of veterans and was a member of the Palmerton VFW Post 7134, Palmerton American Legion Post 269 and the Palmerton Hungarian Club. He assisted their funeral honor guard and rifle squad with many funerals. He enjoyed hunting, bowling and all sports, but especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Along with his Frau Betty, he enjoyed German and Austrian Music and was often spotted dancing the polka at Musikfest in his Lederhosen. Julius was a great supporter of blood donations, donating over 10 gallons of blood. He was predeceased by a beloved daughter, Barbara Perschy, as well as his siblings James Perschy (Chita) and sisters Dolores Butillo (John) and Francesca Kostalis. His survivors are his daughter, Robin Strauss and her husband, Randal Strauss; daughter, Jodi Wagner and her husband, Mark Wagner; sister Dorothy Perschy and companion, Vince Gentilcore, grandchildren: Julie Burkart and husband, Steve; Mark Strauss and wife, Judy, Patrick Wagner and wife Jonna, Tara Strauss and husband, Roy, Mia Taboga and husband, Paul; great-grandchildren: Taylor, Keyon and partner, Victoria, Barbie, Ella, Ava, Axel, Dylan, Jaxon, Gia, Evelyn, Lukas and Teddy; Great-great grandchildren Anastasia, Athena and Frankie; half-brother Peter Fazio (Nancy); half-sister Sandra Cruche; godsons Frank Reichl and Dominic Butillo and many loving nieces and nephews. Julius was the biggest fan of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren following their many activities closely. Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St. Allentown. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM. Memorials can be considered to the Palmerton Memorial VFW Post 7134, c/o the funeral home.

"A Korean War veteran has passed away today." Julius, you are now relieved from your post. A job well done fellow war veteran. We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to begin, ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Farewell fellow veteran.
