Kathleen M. Shamenek

Kathleen M. (Erich) Shamenek, 79, of Bethlehem Township, passed away peacefully on Wesndesday, October 29, 2025. She was the devoted wife of the late Harry Thomas Shamenek. Born on July 28, 1946, in Syracuse, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter Charles Erich and Carmela (Passafiume) Erich. Kathleen was a graduate of Bethlehem Business College with an Associate's degree. Before she retired, she was a Supervisor in the Housekeeping Department at Big Boulder Ski Resort. Once retired, she became a dedicated member of the GFWC Pocono Mountain Women's Club, she so enjoyed the many relationships she built being a member, embodying a spirit of generosity that uplifted those around her. The support of her friendships made through PMWC was truly a blessing that provided her with profound joy and everlasting support. Kathleen was a loving presence to all who knew her and you never had to guess what she was thinking. She made the best of each day and persevered through life's challenges with an optimistic outlook. She was a fantastic cook and loved preparing meals for her friends and family. She loved reading, knitting, and watching football and baseball. Kathleen loved Hallmark Christmas movies and kept her Christmas tree up all year at her home in the Poconos. She was a social butterfly, talked to everyone and loved learning new things, especially when people shared recipes or book recommendations with her. Kathleen adored her family above all. Her heart overflowed with pride and tenderness for all of her loved ones. SURVIVORS: She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Jennifer L. Kresge and her husband Randall of Pottstown, PA; granddaughter, Kaitlyn Kresge; sister-in-law Karen Metzger and her husband Richard; sister-in-law Mary Lou Chicote and husband Al; brother-in-law Louis Shamenek and wife Karen; sister Sara Kratzer and husband Alan; sister Frances Kiefer and many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Erich. SERVICES: A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 28th at 11AM at Pocono Lake Methodist Church, 1188 PA-940, Pocono Lake, PA 18347. A Calling hour will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service. The burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Kathleen's arrangements have been entrusted to Cantelmi Long Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
