Laverne Souder Obituary

Laverne "Vern" Mahlon Souder, 72, of Harleysville, PA; formerly of Souderton, PA went home to be with the Lord after battling lung cancer on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at Grand View Hospital. He was the loving husband of Glenda Jean (Groff) Souder for 53 years. Vern was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Mahlon K. Souder and the late Eleanor (Bechtel) Souder. He graduated from Souderton Area High School, class of 1970. Vern worked as printer at the former Nyce Manufacturing in Vernfield, PA. He then held various positions at various businesses. Vern was a self-employed owner of a cleaning business for 27 years. He enjoyed woodworking, landscaping, collecting antiques, and investing in the markets. Vern was known to be strong-willed with a sharp sense of humor. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Reuben Souder and wife, Janell, of Perkasie, PA; his daughter, Renita, and husband, Kyle Sollie of Philadelphia, PA; his six grandchildren; his two great-grandchildren; his three brothers; and his four sisters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant brother. A memorial service will be private at the convenience of the family.
