Leona Callahan Obituary

Leona K. (Keck) Callahan October 11, 1936 – September 27, 2025 Leona K. (Keck) Callahan, 88, of Coopersburg, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the devoted wife of the late Thomas W. Callahan, with whom she shared many wonderful years before his passing in September 2010. Born in Bethlehem on October 11, 1936, Leona was the daughter of the late Leon A.J. Keck and Beulah (Hoffman) Keck. She was a woman whose life was rooted in faith, family, and service to others. A lifelong and faithful member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Center Valley, Leona found joy in worship, fellowship, and the church community that meant so much to her. Above all, Leona treasured her family. She lived her life as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with a heart full of love. Her happiest moments were those spent gathered around the table, at family celebrations, and in the quiet everyday joys of being present with those she loved. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the values of kindness, faith, and the importance of always putting family first. Leona also carried the deep memory of her late son, Scott, who passed in 1986. His memory remained close to her heart throughout her life, and she often shared stories that kept him alive in the hearts of her family. She will be deeply missed by her daughters: Rebecca S. of Lower Saucon Twp., Tia A. (The Rev. John A.) Hart, with whom she resided, and Tanya M. (Nathaniel A.) Schock of Coopersburg. Leona's legacy continues through her 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her unconditional love, wisdom, and gentle presence; niece: Chrystal D. Deegan of Bethlehem. I have so many fond memories of my time spent with Leona. She was a wonderful person. She was willing to share her wisdom of life and her knowledge of her strong Christian faith.
While we were both on council at Friedens Church, I learned so much from working with her. She was a mentor to me.
Her great attributes of loving her family, her patience and her faith can all be seen through her children and other family members.
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her in recent years and we really developed a strong friendship that I will sorely miss!
