Linda Heintzelman Obituary

Linda Ann (Schantz) Heintzelman, 79, of Schnecksville, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Fellowship Manor, Whitehall. She was the wife of Richard G. Heintzelman, to whom she was married 58 years. Born in Allentown, April 28, 1945, Linda was the daughter of the late Kermit Heydt Schantz and Ruth (Williams) Schantz Frickert. Linda was a graduate of Whitehall High School, Class of 1963, Lankenau Hospital School of Nursing in 1966 (RN), and Kutztown University in 1988 (BSN), and in 1994, she earned a School Nurse Certification from Kutztown University. Her career in nursing began at Duke University Medical Center as a Staff Nurse in the Clinical Research Unit from 1966 – 1969. From 1974 – 1977, Linda was a Pediatric Office Nurse in Alexandria, VA, from 1998 – 1990 she was a Pediatric Office Nurse in Allentown, PA, from 1990 – 1993 she was a Pediatric Case Manager for the Central School Project at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, and from 1993 – 2008 she was a Substitute School Nurse in the Allentown School District. Linda was a volunteer for "Project Child", an agency for the Prevention of Child Abuse from 1993 – 2010. Her interests include knitting, embroidery, bicycling, cross-country skiing, and hiking. Linda attended three final fours and numerous basketball regionals involving Duke University. She was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus. Survivors: In addition to her loving husband, Richard; children, Geoffrey R. Heintzelman PhD (Susan) of Durham, NC, Joanna M. Casto (Robert) of Columbia, MD, Martin D. Heintzelman PhD (Louise) of Kennett Square; sisters, Brenda Birgfeld of Maine, Melissa Swartley of Perkasie; grandchildren, Daniel J. Heintzelman, Rebecca M. Heintzelman, Emily J. Dwyer, Ehren L. Casto, Martin G. Heintzelman, Erik R. Heintzelman. Service: Funeral services will be held 11:00 am. Monday, April 7, 2025, at The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 3461 South Cedar Crest Blvd. Emmaus, PA. The Rev. Shari Duminy will be officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 10:00 am. – 11:00 am. Monday in the church. Private interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs. The Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., in Schnecksville is in charge of arrangements. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit and/or Richard Heintzelman Family Endowment Fund at Duke University, both in c/o the funeral home, P.O. Dick and family-we are so sorry to learn of Linda's death. we know the recent few years were challenging for her and all of you. Although with the passing of time and distance, we saw and spoke far less than we would have liked, have always considered the Heintzelmans wonderful friends, We know that in your loss, you will be sustained by each other, by your warm and loving memories, by your friends, and by your faith. All the best at the time and going forward.
