Louis Guerino Obituary

Louis Frank Guerino Sr. of Whitehall, formerly of Allentown, PA; passed into eternal rest on July 21, 2025. He observed his 91st birthday on March 15, 2025. Louie was the husband of Nancy A. (Schraden) Guerino. They celebrated 70 years of marriage on September 4th 2024. Born in Allentown, Louis was the son of the late Francesco and Josephine (Magliola) Guerino. Louie graduated from Allentown High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Employed by the City of Allentown for more than 30 years (since 1957), and retiring on February 2, 1990, Louis Guerino worked under 7 different Mayors, dedicating all of his time to keeping the streets of Allentown in good condition. He was appointed Superintendent of Streets for the Department of Public Works of Allentown for 16 continuous years, 1974 until his retirement. First, in Louie's lifetime was always his family. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Whitehall, PA; formerly a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel RC Church of Allentown. Louis was a lifetime member of the Fearless Fire Company. Survivors: In addition to his loving and supportive wife, Nancy; Louis is survived by his 4 children; Son, Louis F. Guerino Jr. and his wife, Kim of North Carolina. Son, Michael A. Guerino and his wife, Neysa of Connecticut. Daughter, Donna M. Ruch and her husband, Greg of Macungie, PA. Son, Pastor Timothy J. Guerino and his wife, Melody of West Virginia; 9 grandchildren, Carly, Gabriel, Abbey, Joshua, Christopher, Noelle, Natalie, Samantha and Sophia and 6 great-grandchildren, Ann, Timmy, Gabriel, Esther, Phoenix, Ryan and 2 on the way. Louis was predeceased by his brother, Anthony M. Guerino. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2025 at St. John the Baptist, 3024 S. Ruch Street, Whitehall. Family and friends may pay their respects 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, in the church. Interment with military honors will conclude services at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Italian Cemetery, Allentown. The Stephens Funeral Home, Inc., Allentown is in charge of arrangements. Online expressions of sympathy may be recorded at . We all are grateful for your stepping up to the plate when your country needed you the most. America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom.
