Lucretia A. White

Lucretia A. White, age 88, wife of the late Vernon R. White, of East Vincent Township, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 in the Phoenixville Hospital. Born on June 20, 1937 in Chambersburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Leo J. and Anna M. (Carbaugh) Pittman. Mrs. White was a 1955 graduate of James Buchanan High School in Mercersburg, PA. She went on to receive her bachelor's degree in 1959 from Shippensburg State Teachers College, and her master's degree in 1963 from Temple University. Mrs. White began her teaching career in 1959 with the Spring-Ford School District as a business education teacher. Upon starting her family, she took a pause from teaching to focus on raising her family. During these years, she was active as a PTO volunteer at Vincent Elementary School and as a Sunday School superintendent at East Vincent United Church of Christ, where she was an active and faithful member. In 1980, as her children grew, she continued her career in the Owen J. Roberts School District, where she primarily taught eighth grade English until her retirement in 1999. Even after her retirement, she remained the faculty sports manager for Owen J. Roberts until December of 2014. Mrs. White was always learning and enjoyed traveling on educational style vacations to historically significant locations with her family. She traced her family history back several generations and enjoyed studying her genealogy. She was an avid reader and gardener, and she liked completing word and number puzzles. Mrs. White is survived by two children, Brian D. White and Sharon D. White; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at the Cattermole-Klotzbach Funeral Home, 600 Washington Street, Royersford, PA on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be Rev. Melissa Falk. There will be a visitation from 9:00 am - 10:00 am in the funeral home on Thursday morning. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery, 11045 Buchanan Trail W., Mercersburg, PA 17236 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Roberts Education Association Educator's Scholarship Fund, payable to "REA Scholarship Fund," 881 Ridge Road, Pottstown, PA 19465.
