Luke Sebo Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Luke (Lucho) Stephen Sebo, 81, long-time resident of East Stroudsburg, PA, our beloved husband, father, and grandpa. Born October 18, 1943, in Palmerton, PA to Michael and Helen (Kudela) Sebo. After months of intense suffering, Luke passed away peacefully August 20, 2025, at Monroe County Hospice House.

He is survived by his beloved wife of almost 59 years, Luella (Reed) Sebo; his daughters: Cindy (Miles) Hunter, Sherry Sebo, Sally (Timotei) Iovan, and Sandra (Rocco) Loiudice; his grandchildren: Adriana (Andrew) Hirsch, Demetri, and Donato; and several nieces and a nephew. Luke was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Stephen and Michael.

A 1961 graduate of Palmerton High School, Luke attended Moravian Academy and East Stroudsburg State Teacher’s College.

As a gifted, all-around athlete, Lucho received recognition and awards for his many accomplishments in various sports. He was an avid sports enthusiast throughout his life.

Before marriage, Luke enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on the aircraft carrier USS Essex and was one of the sailors stationed at Guantanamo Bay during the Cuban Missile Crisis (CMC).

For over 34 years, Luke was employed by Cooper Industries, formerly Line Material Industries/McGraw-Edison where he also enjoyed being a member of the Industrial League softball team as an outstanding shortstop. His strong work ethic and dedication as galvanizer crew leader was recognized throughout the plant.

Following his retirement, Luke enjoyed spending his free time with his oldest grandchild, until he began to experience declining health.

Throughout the years, we enjoyed Luke’s wit and great sense of humor and he continued to be amusing, even into recent months, despite the horrific intense suffering he endured. His God-given strength was extraordinary, even as his condition deteriorated.

Our family is so grateful that in recent years Luke displayed a tender heart as God extended His great mercy to him. Luke surrendered his life to Christ and often attended a local church and worshiped online with others. We already miss him tremendously.
