Mae Negley Obituary

Mae Fern (Lehman) Negley, 94, of Perkasie, PA went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at her residence. Mae was the loving wife of the late William "Paul" G. Negley for 67 years. She was born in Fairhill, PA to the late Israel F. Lehman and the late Annie C. (Smith) Lehman. Mae attended Hilltown High School, class of 1949. She later received her GED. Mae worked as a seamstress for the former His-Nibs in Souderton, PA and then for the former Granite Hosiery Mill in Souderton, PA. She stopped working outside the home to raise her family. Later, she worked in the cafeteria at M.M. Seylar Elementary School in Hilltown Twp., PA and then worked as a cook for Rockhill Community in Sellersville, PA. She was later employed as a cook for the former The Deli Shop in Souderton, PA for many years. Mae was a lifetime member of Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church where she served the Lord and her congregation as a Sunday school teacher, deaconess, nursery worker, taught VBS, led singing, sang in trios and quartets, did custodial work, served in the kitchen, as a Youth Group leader, and a Young at Heart leader. For many years, she and her husband volunteered monthly at Rockhill Community and the Hatfield Highway Home where her husband played the piano and they led hymn sings for the residents. Mae loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed sewing clothing for her family, gardening, canning and freezing vegetables, cooking and baking for family, and making rag quilts. More recently, when mostly homebound, she enjoyed watching musicians, pastors, and travel programs on television, though she did attend Sunday morning services in person. Mae was a loving and caring woman who was always willing to help anyone. She had a heart for children in their time of need, and her door was always open. She is survived by her four children: Wendell Paul Negley & wife, Lois of Gillett, PA, Brenda Faith Sims & husband, Troy of Perkasie, PA, Lowell Mark Negley & wife, Deborah of Souderton, PA, and Merrill Garlin Negley & wife, Melinda of Perkasie, PA; her 14 grandchildren – Zachery, Rachel, Joshua, Lydia, Emily, April, Luke, Caleb, Francis, Daniel, Micah, Rebekah, James, and Jamie; and her 20 great-grandchildren – Katherine, Jethro, Ana, Ivy, Liam, Miriam, Ted, Chloe, Lyndsey, Leon, Timothy, Naomi, Todd, Caleb, William, Josie, Seth, Charles, Walter, and Ian. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her infant sister, Lois Lehman; her sister, Margaret Landis; and her four brothers, Clyde, Walter, Glen, & Wesley Lehman. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church, 165 W. Main St., Silverdale, PA 18962, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m. Those who are unable to attend may watch the service live streamed via the Silverdale Church Facebook site. Burial will take place following the service at the Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Silverdale Brethren in Christ Church, P.O. Box 237, Silverdale, PA 18962.
