Margaret J. McCann

Margaret J. McCann, 88, of Cresskill, NJ, formerly of Westmont, NJ, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" J. McCann. Born in Germantown, PA, she was the daughter of the late James and Jane (Mellon) McCann. Margaret was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy, commonly known as The Mount, and attended Penn State University. In 1958, she was crowned Miss Philadelphia. She launched her career as a copywriter, working on memorable campaigns such as Good & Plenty's "Choo-Choo Charlie," Prince Spaghetti's "Wednesday is Prince Spaghetti's Day," and Kiddie City's iconic kangaroo mascot campaign, and later helped Bob run the family business, The Bob McCann Group. Margaret enjoyed singing, playing the piano, and gardening, and was an avid reader and member of the Rosary Club. A loyal Eagles fan, she was thrilled to watch her team beat the Kansas City Chiefs in February's Super Bowl LIX. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She is survived by her daughters, Christine Walter and her husband Joe, Lauren DeVincent and her husband Danny, and Tara McCann; her grandchildren, Amanda Martin and her husband Jared, Ryan and Kevin Walter, Kate and James DeVincent, and Dash and Sadie Beavers; and her great-grandchildren, Jace and Jett Martin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, October 28, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1601 Derstine Ave., Hatfield, PA 19440, where a viewing will be held from 10–10:45 AM. Interment will follow in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your local library.
