Marguerite Hillegass Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Marguerite Marie Hillegass (May 17, 1947 - August 15, 2025), lovingly known as Maggie, who departed this world on August 15, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on May 17, 1947, in Allentown, PA, Maggie's life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and unwavering family devotion.

Maggie was the cherished daughter of Marie and Wilbur Warmkessel Sr. and was blessed to share her life with a large and loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harry John Hillegass Sr., along with her parents and a host of siblings: Ronald Gaffney, Michael P. Warmkessel, Donald P. Warmkessel, Frances Gaffney, David C. Warmkessel, Barbara A. Douglas, and Rosemary Bold. Their memories will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.

Maggie's spirit will continue to shine brightly through her surviving family, including her devoted children: Harry John Hillegass Jr. (Cathy), SueAnn DuPay (John Long), and Wendy Pennington (Tom). She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Sydney, Joanna and Alyssa, DuPay; Natalie Pennington; Buzzy Bergeman; Rachel Pancott; and Nicole DuPay; as well as a treasured great-grandmother to five beautiful great-grandchildren. Maggie found joy in every moment spent with her family and instilled in them the values of love and compassion.

Maggie is also survived by her siblings Wilber H. Warmkessel Jr. and Esther A. Smith, along with numerous loving nieces and nephews who were fortunate to have her as their aunt.

Throughout her life, Maggie was known for her kindness, her infectious laughter, and her ability to make every person feel special. She had a remarkable gift for bringing people together and cherished the bonds of family and friendship. Her faith was a guiding light; during her life she was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Richlandtown, Pennsylvania; a member of Delrayno Baptist Church, Oxford, North Carolina, where she found community and connection; and attended Abundant Life Church in Birdsboro, Pennsylvania.

In honor of Maggie's legacy, a celebration of life will be held on September 27, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. John's Lutheran Church in Richlandtown, Pennsylvania. All who knew and loved her are invited to celebrate the beautiful life she led and the countless lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the church or a charity of your choice in Maggie's name, reflecting her spirit of giving and love for others.

As we say our goodbyes, we remember Maggie not only for the incredible woman she was but for the lessons she taught us all about love, resilience, and the importance of family. Her memory will forever remain in our hearts, guiding us in our own lives as we carry her love with us. Rest in peace Maggie. You are deeply missed and will never be forgotten.
