Marie Schertel Obituary

Marie Schertel, 88, of New Tripoli passed away peacefully at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest on September 30, 2025. She was the wife of the late Mark Schertel, who passed in 2019. Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Christoph and Anna (Schneider) Appold of East Greenville. Marie was a 1955 graduate of Upper Perkiomen High School. She was employed by Fairtex Mills in Allentown, and later at St. Luke's Hospital, Allentown while being a part of the workings of the family farm. She had a passion for music and served as organist at St. Joseph the Worker Church for decades. Marie is survived by her son George; brothers Michael, Christopher and Walter and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother H. Frederick. Services: Mass at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 8th at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Dr, Orefield. (no calling hours.) Interment following at Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville. Contributions can be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements by Nicos C. Elias Funeral Home, Allentown.
