Marilyn DeFazio Obituary
Marilyn B. DeFazio, age 80 of Effort, PA formerly of Brooklyn, NY passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Lehigh Valley Hospital Pocono in East Stroudsburg, PA.
Marilyn was born in Madison, WI on January 26, 1945, daughter of the late John and Delores (Wisner) Facella.
She was the loving wife of the late Frank DeFazio who preceded her in death on August 3, 2018.
Marilyn was a former member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Gilbert, PA.
Marilyn enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crocheting, cooking and baking for her family and watching the hummingbirds.
We have been blessed with the presence of Marilyn in our lives. She will be deeply missed by her children: Debra Kosina of Brooklyn, NY, Frank DeFazio and spouse Debra of Hackettstown, NJ, Anthony DeFazio of Brooklyn, NY and Denise Cruci and spouse Edward of Effort, PA.
She was the loving grandmother known as "Nana" to Christian DeFazio and spouse Jennifer, Michael DeFazio and spouse Gabrielle, Samantha Kassl and spouse Adam, Nicholas Kosina and spouse Leonora, Stephanie Diaz and spouse Michael, Charlotte DeFazio-McElrath and spouse Todd, Olivia Cruci, Francesca Kosina, Ben Cruci and spouse Caitlin, Angelica Cruci, Zoe DeFazio, Aurora Cruci and her great grandchildren: Luca DeFazio, Alexandra Kassl, Jayden DeFazio, Mya DeFazio, Nicolette Kassl, Lucia Kosina, Madilyn DeFazio, Zachary Kassl, Sophia Diaz, Annie Cruci and baby McElrath on the way.
She is also survived by two siblings: Elaine Peluso of Oceanside, NY and Robert Facella and spouse Sylvia of Saylorsburg, PA.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her brothers: Gary and George Facella.
Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of love, of time well spent, of stories shared, of laughter and the unshakable bonds of family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held 11 am, Friday, August 29, 2025, at Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1426 Route 209, Gilbert, PA.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 1-3 PM and 5-8 pm. Additional visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home.
Marilyn will be laid to rest next to her loving husband Frank at the Stroudsburg Cemetery in Stroudsburg, PA.
On behalf of the family flowers are accepted or plant a tree in her memory.
