Mary Reinbold Obituary
Mary Catherine Reinbold, 77, of Oley, PA, formerly of Easton, PA, passed away peacefully on July 11 at Tower Health Reading Hospital, in Reading PA.
The daughter of the late Frank Edwin Tornese and the late Ollie Anna (Carter) Tornese of Romney, WV, she was born October 25, 1947, in Laurel, MD. She lived in Maryland until leaving for the Easton Hospital School of Nursing in Easton, PA, in 1965. She graduated in 1968 and began working at Easton Hospital. She married the late Richard William Flyte in 1970, but they divorced amicably in 1981. She later married Morgan David Reinbold, Jr. in 2012.
A lifelong writer, Mary wrote personal columns and feature stories for The Express-Times in Easton, PA as well as numerous articles on Medium.com. She published several essays and short stories in a number of anthologies and magazines. She published her first novel, The Guardian's Prophecy, in 2014, and was working on a memoir of her time as a nurse before she passed. Mary was an active member of the Greater Lehigh Valley Writers Group and the Pocono/Lehigh Romance Writers. She was an enthusiastic mentor and supporter of many other writers in the Lehigh Valley.
Mary's writing also earned her a trip to the White House in 1993. After writing about her struggles getting proper health care for her mother in rural West Virginia, President Bill Clinton's Health Care committee invited her among other writers to speak in the White House Rose Garden about the many challenges of health care. Outside of her work as a registered nurse, visiting nurse, and regional director, she remained a vocal advocate for fair health care for all.
She was a life-long Beatles fan, seeing them three times in concert, including the famous Shea Stadium show in 1965. She was also an Anglophile, researching and writing about Arthurian legends, Celtic history, and taking multiple trips to England to tour the mounds of Glastonbury and the streets of London.
Surviving along with her husband Morgan, is a daughter, Heather Flyte, of Oley, PA; a stepdaughter, Shannon Gee and husband Karl Gee of Otego, NY; a stepson, Morgan Reinbold, of Pottstown, PA; a grandson, Jaiden Gee of Otego, NY, a brother-in-law, Gary Krall, of Bethlehem; and two nephews, Christopher and Anthony Giordani.
