Mary Strunk Obituary

Mary Dodd Strunk, age 99, passed away peacefully at Spring Village Pocono in East Stroudsburg on Saturday, September 13, 2025. Mary was born January 18, 1926, the daughter of George and Mabel Dodd of Stroudsburg. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Thomas Strunk. Shortly after their marriage Mary and Tom moved to Williamsport, PA, where they both worked for Selective Risk Insurance until retirement. They loved to travel and visited many destinations around the world. Mary enjoyed music and sang in choruses at Stroudsburg High School and several church and community choirs throughout her life. She was an enthusiastic collector of antique furniture, old books, and teddy bears, all of which she proudly displayed throughout her home. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers George, Gilbert, and James. Mary is survived by her twin sister Edna Crane of Stroudsburg. They were very close and loved spending time together. In addition to her sister, Mary is survived by several nieces and nephews. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. The family would like to thank the staff of Spring Village Pocono for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Church of Christ, 14 N 8th Street, Stroudsburg, PA, 18360.
