Melanie Howell Obituary

Melanie Anne Howell (1972-2025) It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Melanie Howell, aged 53, on September 19th 2025. She was born in Neptune, NJ on May 4, 1972 to Aage and Melody Skerstad and grew up in Howell, NJ. She spent much of her adult life working in healthcare as a nursing assistant and later continuing her education as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Melanie enjoyed camping, being outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. She was fiercely loyal and can be remembered as someone who was usually laughing. She had a heart that cared deeply for others, even when she struggled to care for herself. Melanie dreamed of peace, longed for healed relationships, and tried with everything she had. Melanie was predeceased by her father Aage Skerstad and brother Aage Skerstad. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia (Keith) Obriwin, former husband Patrick Howell Sr. and their sons Patrick Howell Jr. and Matthew Howell, grandchildren Kaden and Cecilia Obriwin, mother Melody Skerstad, sister Corina (John) Phillips, and significant other Mark Dutan. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends who will carry her memory with love, pride, and deep sorrow. A celebration of life in Melanie's honor will be announced at a later date.
