Michael Coldren Obituary

Michael John Coldren, 79, of Forks Township, passed away peacefully at home on September 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Leavenworth, KS, he was the son of the late Ralph E. and Mary M. (Combs) Coldren. Michael graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1965 and went on to serve proudly as a police officer with the Hutchinson Police Department. Following his early retirement from service, he worked with Kroger Grocery Stores until his retirement in 2004. He later relocated to Pennsylvania, where he and his wife continued their life together. Michael's interests reflected his curiosity and joy for life. He loved photography and had a natural talent for working with electronics. A devoted Kansas University Jayhawks fan, he rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite teams. He also found great peace in tending to his koi pond and spending time outdoors. Guided by his strong Christian faith, Michael was active in church life, serving in various leadership roles over the years. He is survived by his devoted wife of 43 years, Karen (Troyer) Coldren; his children, Amy Coldren-Marker of Easton, PA; Devin Coldren and wife Ruthann of Dodge City, KS; Brandon Coldren and wife Mamie of Buhler, KS; and Keira Urquhart and husband Troy of Brooklyn, NY. He is also lovingly remembered by his siblings, Sara Brown, Craig Coldren, and Margy Downard; and his cherished grandchildren, Sophie, Kye, Owen, Dade, Lilly, Peyton, Emme, Cierra-Leone, Micaiah, Ace, Lovey, Vivi, Bien-Ave, and Goldwyn. Family and friends are invited to gather during calling hours on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Morello Funeral Home, Inc., 3720 Nicholas Street, Easton, PA (Palmer Township). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 11:00am at Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church, 3100 Hecktown Road, Bethlehem, PA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mike's honor to Ebenezer Bible Fellowship Church (address above) or The Hutchinson Police Department, 210 W. 1st Ave, Hutchinson, KS 67501 Attn: Sharla Loucks. Karen and family, Jeff and I are so sorry for your loss. When I think of Mike, two things immediately come to mind: the Honduras trips, how he captured those experiences with his camera and then shared them with all of us; and his powerful testimony of being given a second chance to know Jesus after being shot. Godspeed, Mike, till we meet again.
