Michael Schneider Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael L. Schneider, 48, of Hellertown. Michael is the husband of Kristen M. (Baer) Schneider. He was born in Allentown on March 14, 1977 to Brett L. Schneider of Hellertown & the late Cynthia A. (Swallow) Wagner. Michael spent most of his life working various jobs in construction trades, public works, and proudly and selflessly helping others. He took great pride in his home and was always working on or planning a new project. Michael is a member of the Edward H. Ackerman Post 397, and was a charter member of the American Legion Riders. He loved fishing, camping, smoking meats and cheeses, and cooking for his friends and family. Mike enjoyed auctions and flea markets, always searching for the next unique antique treasure that he often loved to give to others. In addition to his loving wife of 20 years, and his father Brett, Michael is survived by his children: Ava M. and Joel M. at home, siblings: Jessica L. (Justin J.) Handler, Mandi Hurlburt, and Geoffrey Schneider; mother-in-law: Gail L. (Vallone) Baer; sister-in-law: Jennifer L. (Damien W. ) Kaufman; maternal grandfather: Arthur A. Swallow; nieces and nephews: Justin, Juliana, and Jake Handler, and Madalynn Kaufman; as well as many cherished extended family and friends. In addition to Michael's mother, he is predeceased by his father-in-law: Geoffrey C. Baer; uncle: Scott Schneider; nieces: Brianna N. Baer and Abigail E. Kaufman; paternal and maternal grandparents: Arnold and Shirlee Schneider and Gloria Swallow. A celebratory service honoring Michael's life will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Historic Alfred J. Fritchman Reservoir Park, 3400 Reservoir Park, Hellertown. Dear Kristin, Ava, Joel, and the entire family,

I want to begin by expressing my deepest and most heartfelt condolences to all of you during this incredibly difficult time. I can only imagine the depth of the grief you are all feeling, and my heart aches for the loss of someone so dearly loved. Mike was truly a special person, and I feel so privileged to have known him.

I first met Mike when I was about 16, not long after my mom and Brett began dating. From the very first moment, I could tell there was something about Mike that made him stand out. He had this warmth about him, this easy-going nature that made you feel like you were already a part of his world, even if you'd just met. I always looked forward to spending time with him and Kristin. There was never a dull moment when they were around. I’d often leave their company with a sore stomach from laughing so hard—Mike had a way of making even the most ordinary moments feel full of joy and humor.

But Mike wasn’t just about fun and laughter—though that side of him was certainly unforgettable. He was also an incredibly skilled and resourceful person. Just like Brett, Mike had the uncanny ability to fix just about anything. It didn’t matter if something was broken or not working right; if Mike didn’t know how to fix it, he would figure it out. There was no challenge too big, no problem too complicated for him. That kind of skill, patience, and determination is something I deeply admired in him.

Mike, you were the kind of person who made everyone around you feel seen and valued. You had this quiet way of showing up when it mattered most, whether it was with a joke to lift our spirits or with your hands ready to fix whatever needed fixing. Your laughter, your wisdom, your generosity of spirit—these are all things that will stay with us, long after you're gone.

To Kristin, Ava, and Joel—my heart goes out to you. I can’t pretend to know the pain you must be feeling right now, but please know that I’m thinking of you constantly and holding you close in my thoughts. Mike’s legacy will live on in all of you—his kindness, his humor, and his boundless love. He may no longer be physically with us, but his spirit will remain woven into the fabric of our lives, in the stories we tell, in the memories we hold dear, and in the way we continue to move forward, carrying a piece of him with us every day.

Mike, you will be missed greatly. Your laughter, your generosity, and your spirit will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you for the light you brought into our lives. We are all better for having known you.

With all my love and deepest sympathy,

Heather
