Nelson Matos

Nelson Matos, 77, of Bethlehem, PA, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of strength, service, and devotion. Born in Puerto Rico and raised in Bethlehem, Nelson was a proud graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1966. A Vietnam veteran with a Bronze Star Medal for valor and heroism, Nelson served his country with honor and returned home to dedicate 33 years of hard work to Bethlehem Steel Coke Works. He also participated in Bethlehem's annual Three Kings Celebration for the past 14 years where he portrayed one of the Three Kings-a role that reflected his deep cultural pride and his commitment to honoring tradition and community. In retirement, Nelson enjoyed traveling with his wife exploring destinations across the globe. Nelson is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Carmen, whose partnership was the foundation of a life filled with love and family. He is also survived by his sons Chuck (wife Cheryl) and Christopher (wife Nikoleta), and his grandsons Bradley and Tyler, who brought him endless joy and pride. He is lovingly remembered by his brother Freddie and sister Cathy, and was preceded in death by his sister Nilsa, whose memory remains close to the hearts of those who knew them. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 A.M. on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Holy Infancy Catholic Church- 312 E. Fourth Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Cantelmi Long Funeral Home- 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018 and also on Monday morning at Holy Infancy Catholic Church from 9 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment with military honors will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery- 2575 Linden Street, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
