Nicolas Cynajko Obituary

Nicolas Cynajko, 79, of Milford Township, Bucks County Nicolas Cynajko, 79, of Milford Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of the late Romanna A. (Greczylo) Cynajko, who preceded him in death on January 30, 2016. Born in Germany on December 19, 1945, Nicolas was the son of the late Vasyl and Darka (Nadolska) Cynajko. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Nicolas built a long career as a Facilities Engineer. He worked for Orbach's Department Store in Queens, NY, from 1980–1987, and then for Phoenix Microwave in Telford until 2002. Later, he continued his work in the same capacity at Pennridge High School until his retirement in 2016. A devoted member of St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Bethlehem, Nicolas had a deep love for all things Ukraine, which remained a central part of his life. His selfless acts of kindness enriched many lives for the betterment of loved ones and strangers alike. He is survived by his children: Dorian N. (Tiffany) Cynajko of Brewster, NY; Ivanna R. (Mathew) Cowan of London, England; and Adrian B. Cynajko of Lancaster. He was the proud grandfather of four: Ava, Greyson, Milo, and Quinn. Family and friends are invited to a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Andrew's Ukrainian Catholic Church, 141 Sarah Wells Trail, Campbell Hall, NY. Yesterday

I have always admired Nicolas. I was in awe when he talked about the trips to Ukraine to provide medical equipment, which I am sure saved many lives. Here, in America, he dedicated himself to keeping the Ukrainian spirit alive through his involvement in his church and Ukrainian cultural programs and events. I know that Nicolas was also a Vietnam veteran. His military photo was proudly placed in his parents' home for all to see. Nicolas was a good, friendly, and honorable man.

Yesterday

My deepest sympathy to the family of this kind gentleman as I knew him in our younger years. We have wonderful memories of a gentle soul. We danced together in a Ukrainian dance group and I went to the Ukrainian ball in NYC with him. We were and are dear friends in heartfelt memories. May God rest his beautiful soul.

This is just so sad The Cynajko family has been family friends dating back to when Nicola, his parents and sister lived in Uruguay, as did my mom. All immigrated to the US and remained friends to the end.

Nicola was such a friendly, caring, and loving person. I recall my mom saying that he treated both his mom and her to the 1964 World’s Fair, not once, but twice! There’s a photo of Nicola tightly holding me as a toddler; what teen guy wants to hang out with two moms or cuddle a squirming kid? That was Nicola. There were family visits, overnight stays, camping, wedding invitations, baby showers and, so on. And, Nicola always made sure that folks enjoyed whatever the experience was. Now, we’ve come to the point of seeing each other at family funerals. The years have gone by, but the wonderful memories remain.

My condolences to Nicola’s children - Dorian, Ivanna and Adrian; his grandchildren; his family and friends. Hold onto your many memories of him for comfort, for a smile, for peace.

Nicolas made many trips to Ukraine over the years volunteering with medical teams from the US who were helping local doctors learn new western surgical techniques. He would act as an interpreter in some cases, cleaning and disinfecting operating rooms, helping with patients in recovery and entertaining children in recovery with stories and jokes. He did this at his own expense and time.

Nicholas was also a founder and leader of Post 42 of the Ukrainian American Veterans of the Lehigh Valley. His dedication to support our veterans will be missed. Always ready to lend a hand.
