Rena Baumgartner Obituary
Rena V. Baumgartner, age 91 of Polk Township, Kunkletown, PA passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at her home.
Rena was the loving wife of the late William H. Baumgartner who preceded her in death on December 9, 2011.
She was born in Effort, PA on December 26, 1933, daughter of the late Renie and Elsie (Parks) Kresge.
Rena and her family owned and operated Baumgartner Farms in Kunkletown, PA.
She was a member of the Effort United Methodist Church in Effort, PA.
Rena was active in politics all her life. She served as a chairwoman for the Monroe County Democratic Party; she served on the Democratic National Committee and was Vice Chairwoman of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party.
Rena was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and Order of the Amaranth in Bartonsville, PA.
Rena loved spending time with her family, watching the Phillies games with her grandson, playing scrabble with her family and was known as the "Scrabble Queen". She also loved doing sticker by number books. She loved to spend time in her flower and vegetable gardens.
We have been blessed with the presence of Rena in our lives. She will be deeply missed by her children: Bryan Baumgartner and his wife Sherry of Kunkletown, PA and Robin Baumgartner of Effort, PA.
She was the loving grandmother to: Matthew W. Baumgartner, Bryan Andrew Baumgartner and Brandyn Bok and his spouse Lily who all lovingly called her Grammy.
Rena is also survived by her nieces: Donna Coleman and spouse Bob, Emma VanStone, Patsy Costenbader, Belinda Baumgartner, Judy Altemose, her nephews: Harold Schaffer, Harold Altemose, Tom Altemose, John Altemose, Timothy Altemose, Jerry Altemose, Billy Altemose, Larry Altemose, Fred Baumgartner and Dean Baumgartner and many great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her husband William, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Florence Kreger, Esther Temple, Shirley Kresge and Granville Kresge.
Rena leaves behind a legacy of love ~ of time well spent, of stories shared, of devotion to her community, and the unshakable bonds of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM, Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1426 Route 209, Gilbert, PA.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 9:30 am until time of service at the funeral home.
Interment is private at the Middle Creek Cemetery, Kunkletown, PA.
