Rosa Guzman Obituary
Rosa Mérida Guzmán, age 80, of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025. Born and raised in Juana Díaz, Puerto Rico, she moved to Philadelphia in her twenties, where she raised her beloved children Marisol Roche-Timmons, Maria Roche, Elisa Roche, and Enrique Roche, and loved on her stepdaughters Ana Roche, Maria Negrón and Nilda Reilly, and her many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves behind her siblings Luz Guzman, Angel Guzman, Olga Guzman, and Efrain Guzman. She is preceded in death by her parents, Angel Guzman and Francisca Ramona Muñoz, and her sister Ramonita Guzmán.
Rosa loved to travel, especially back home to her precious Puerto Rico where she would visit her sisters, and see the beautiful beaches, amazing architecture and relive her childhood memories, recounting all the fun mischief she and her siblings would get into as young schoolchildren. She was a proud Boricua. Rosa loved traveling so much, that she would have her suitcase packed within a day or two of plane tickets being purchased, even if it were months before the flight. Her second home of Philadelphia brought many years of great joy, especially when she played tour guide to family and friends, traveling throughout the historic sites of the city and going to the museums. Her later years brought her to Garnet Valley, where she brought smiles to everyone who crossed her path! She loved spending her time gardening, working on Search and Finds, and, of course, filling up the freezer and fridge with her delectable meals.
Her love of travel was second to her love of cooking. Rosa's skills in the kitchen were raved about everywhere! She loved making big dinners for her family and friends, especially for the holidays. We all knew Thanksgiving and Christmas were around the corner when she tied her hair in a ponytail, put on her pañuelo and apron and made pasteles.
She was known for laughing to her heart's content before recounting a funny story, which made everyone laugh, even before hearing one single word. Her laughter filled the room with joy.
Her love, laughter, stories and cooking will greatly be missed.
A Visitation for Rosa will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 10:45AM-12PM at St. Thomas The Apostle Church in Glen Mills, PA. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12PM. Interment will be held at St. Thomas The Apostle Church Cemetery. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.paganofuneralhome.com
