Ronald Hunsberger Obituary

Ronald "Ron" J. Hunsberger, 93, of Souderton, PA; formerly of Bedminster, PA, Harleysville, PA, & Lansdale, PA went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Souderton Mennonite Homes. He was the loving husband of Mary R. (Clemmer) Hunsberger for 73 years. Ronald was born in Sellersville, PA to the late Paul S. Hunsberger and the late Edna (Ruth) Hunsberger. He graduated from Eastern Mennonite High School in Harrisonburg, VA, class of 1949. Ronald was raised and worked on the family farm in Morwood, PA. He then worked as a butcher in the meat department for the former Ralph's Market in Lansdale, PA. Ronald had a market route to Philadelphia, PA for many years. He was the self-employed owner and operator of his farm and butcher shop named Sunnybrook Farm Meats in Harleysville, PA and Bedminster, PA. Ronald was a life member of Line Lexington Mennonite Church where he formerly served as a songleader, summer Bible school teacher, and sang in the church choir. He loved spending time with his family, reading, collecting antique model tractors, working on antique cars, and traveling with family and friends. Ronald enjoyed going to cattle auctions and would frequently return home with a baby animal in his jacket. He loved singing and was involved in numerous men's quartets. Ronald was a hardworking, caring, generous, man who had a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor. He loved to joke, tell stories, and sing songs from his childhood. In addition to his wife, Mary, Ronald is survived by his four children, R. Feryl Hunsberger & wife, Shirley of Souderton, PA, Karen F. Houser & husband, Delmar of Madison, FL, Dwight L. Hunsberger & wife, Darlene of Telford, PA, Carol J. Hunsberger & husband, Dan Koziel of Perkiomenville, PA; his seven grandchildren – Tara Bell & husband, Ariel, Travis Hunsberger & wife, Lori, Shawn Hunsberger & fiancé, Shannon, Jason Myers & wife, Jackie, Julie Strickland & husband, Bryan, Sr., Jeremy Hunsberger & wife, Alicia, & Cassandra Shaw & husband, Jared; his 16 great-grandchildren – Breya, Jaxson, Reese, Audyn, Rylan, Ava, Vincent, Mikayla, Madelyn, Bryan, Jr., Leah, Brooke, Addisyn, Braxton, Jeffrey "Bear", & Bodie; and his two brothers, Arlin Hunsberger & wife, Pat of Goshen, IN, and Merrill Hunsberger & wife, Mabel of Waterloo, Ontario. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Winfield "Bud" Hunsberger; his sisters, Ruth Hunsberger & Rosa Marie Alderfer; his brother, Richard R. Hunsberger; his twin brother, Donald Hunsberger; and his sister, Kathryn Seitz. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at 11:00 am at Souderton Mennonite Homes, 207 W. Summit Street, Souderton, PA 18964, followed by an informal visitation at 12:00 pm. Inurnment will take place at Line Lexington Mennonite Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Living Branches Foundation, Souderton Mennonite Agape Fund, 275 Dock Drive, Lansdale, PA 19446.
