Ruth Ann Harrison

Ruth Ann Harrison, 93, of Phillipsburg, NJ passed away on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Ruth was born in the family home in Philliipsburg, NJ on February 6, 1932 to the late Clarence A. Opie and Emma S. Blackwell Opie. Ruth was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School, Class of 1949, where she was a cheerleader. She then continued her education at the Somerset Hospital School of Nursing, graduating with the Class of 1952. Upon her completion of nursing school, Ruth married Donald Harrison, traveled the world-going from Navy Base to Navy Base-all while having 6 children, all of which were born in different countries. Once Ruth and Don settled in Lopatcong Township, NJ, Ruth began her career as a Maternity Nurse at Warren Hospital-retiring after 27 years. In retirement, she continued her work at the hospital by volunteering, was a regular blood donor, and volunteered with Care and Share Thrift Shop (in conjunction with the Mennonite Church) in Souderton, PA for 40 years. In her free time, Ruth enjoyed anything crafty, especially knitting-of which she was well known for throughout the family. Above all Ruth was there to aide anyone in need, always tending to others, and being a helpful friend to all who knew her. Ruth is survived by Three Sons, Steven Harrison of SC, Scott (Stephanie) Harrison of NC, and Stacy (Pat) Harrison of PA; Three Daughters, Susan (Michael) Center of NJ, Sharon (Jim) Harrison-VanDerveer of PA, and Sandra (Dave) Harrison-Weaver of TX; 14 Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Ruth was predeceased by Husband, Donald K. Harrison, Sister, Clara M. Pickel and Grandson, Jason Frey. A Visitation for the Family and Friends of Ruth will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 7:00 pm to 9:00pm at Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Parkway; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 and on Wednesday, June 11, 2025 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Phillipsburg Alliance Church; 255 Lincoln Street; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00am.
