Ruth E. Miller

Ruth E. Miller, 98, of Pottstown, PA, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, at Manatawny Manor. She was the beloved wife of the late Ralph "Lefty" S. Miller, with whom she shared 61 years of marriage until his passing on July 18, 2013. Born in Reading, PA, on November 3, 1926, Ruth was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Rhoda (Embody) Miller. Ruth graduated from Boyertown High School in 1944 and went on to attend West Chester University, where she pursued her dream of teaching music. She later began her career as an administrative assistant at Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, where she met her future husband. A lifelong lover of music, she played violin with the Pottstown Symphony and at the Saugerties Music Camp, a school for young musicians. Ruth's gentle and caring nature shaped every part of her life, and she will be remembered most for her devotion to her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruth is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Rebecca (David) High of Annapolis, MD, and Melissa Zipay of New Berlinville, PA; her grandchildren, Nathan (Emily) Zipay and Kacie (Chad) Widmann; and her great-grandchildren, Finley and Hazie, with two more great-grandchildren-twins-soon to be welcomed by Nathan and Emily. Family and friends are invited to attend Ruth's visitation on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Houck & Gofus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 955 N. Charlotte St., Pottstown, PA 19464. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place afterward at Mount Zion Cemetery, 225 E. Schuylkill Rd., Pottstown, PA 19465. In honor of Ruth's deep love for dogs, donations may be made in her memory to 1 Love 4 Animals.
