Sarah Yurick Obituary

Sarah A. Yurick, 93, of Allentown, passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 in Cedarbrook Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Stephen J. Gilly who died in 1974 and Robert Yurick who died in 1996. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Jessie (Grate) Beam. Sarah was a 1949 graduate of Allentown High School. She worked as a cashier at Saylor's Restaurant, as a spot welder for Western Electric and in the Bakery at the Allentown Farmers Market until retiring in 1993. Sarah was a member of St. Paul's UCC in Allentown. She enjoyed bowling and was also a proud member of the Gutter Ball Gerties. Most of all, Sarah cherished every moment spent with her family and grandchildren. Survivors: Children, Vicki L. Simon (Rudolph "Buddy") of Walnutport, Christina M. Gilly of Phoenixville, George S. Gilly (Mary) of Orefield, Julie A. Prisaznik (Barry) of Allentown; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Sarah was also preceded in death by a daughter Theresa R. Newhard, infant daughter Mary Ellen, brother George Beam and sisters Catherine Panner, Jessie Fluck and Anna Matsco. Services will be private at Sarah's request. Arrangements are entrusted to the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Allentown. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, may be made to St. Paul's UCC, 340 E. Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA 18109.
