Shirley Reses (nee Shuman) of Warwick, PA passed on January 8, 2025. She was the beloved wife of Charles Elliott; loving mother of Dr. Ronald Futerman (Susan) and Dr. Andrea Adler (Dr. Jonathan); proud grandmother of Dr. Andrew Adler (Dr. Ida Lim), Ellis Adler, Dr. Michael Adler, Parker Elliott, Mackenzie Elliott, Cealy Elliott, Annamae Elliott, Mattis Elliott, Emlyn Elliott, Monty Elliott, Lola Elliott; adoring great-grandmother of Emma Adler; and dear step-mother of Matthew Elliott MSN, MBA (Theresa) and Peter Elliott CPA, MS (Michele). She was pre-deceased by her late husband Paul Futerman and late husband Arthur Reses.
Shirley earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Temple University and then a master’s degree in gerontology from the University of Pennsylvania.
As the director of Jewish Older Adult Services of Atlantic County, NJ, she was able to secure grants and institute volunteer programs for the organization. For this work, she was recognized by President George H.W. Bush as part of the “thousand points of light”.
Outside of her career, Shirley will be remembered as a dedicated and loving mother and a loyal friend.
Relatives and friends are invited to funeral services Sunday January 12, 10:15 AM at Joseph Levine & Sons, 1002 W. Skippack Pike, Blue Bell, PA. Those unable to join in person may stream live at levinefuneral.com/blue-bell-webcam1.html. Interment at Mt. Sharon.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Jewish Older Adult Services of Atlantic County, NJ (beronjoas.org).
